Automotive supply chains move serialized parts through tiers of suppliers. An EPCIS 2.0 event records which party observed a part at a step; the gateway stamps the warrantor and grades the asserted observer, so the chain of custody carries who stands behind each record and how strongly the observer is attested.

Illustrative: a serialized part leaves a tier-1 plant. The stamped fields are the gateway's; the asserted field is the caller's, graded. The shapes are the implemented envelope; the values are invented.

A warranty dispute two tiers downstream reads this chain out of context, which is exactly the test: validated against GS1's official schema at capture, identified by the CBV 2.0 §8.9 hash, appended and never edited.
